Wild Life Exploration
Bird Watching - Children and adults alike can enjoy a nature walk while viewing the beauty of the feathered inhabitants and listening to their diverse calls. Be on the look out for the Canada Goose, Black Phoebe and the vibrant Blue Bird, to name a few.
Frog Pond - Listen to the frogs trilling while you sit on the unique kissing frog rock as you enjoy one of the highlights of the park. The frog pond is surrounded by the towering native reeds which serve to protect the wild life from the human eye.
Ant World - Children of all ages will have a great time using their imagination as they play at this unique place designed by kids just for kids.
Discovery Garden - Have you ever climbed a monkey tree, a lizard rock or a giant stump? At the Discovery Garden, children can excite their senses and climb on natural play structures that allows them to see, feel, hear and smell various natural wonders by invitation of mother earth herself.
Native Corner - Learn about the native plants and their magical healing properties. Did you know that willow shoots were once made into a poultice and used as aspirin by the native people? Spring brings the colorful beauty as California Poppies, sweet blackberries and green California sage takes center stage. The blackberries bloom from May to August, while the aromatic sage flowers from April to June.
Playground - Natividad Park offers a traditional playground for the kiddies with various slides, swings and climbing features to get their wiggles out. And nearby, parents can rest at the gazebo for a quiet chat or to celebrate a birthday party.
Amphitheatre
The Park boasts a small Amphitheatre, which seats approximately 200 people. A small stage and a little star power is all that is needed to draw in the crowd for an outstanding performance. Be sure to check with the City of Salinas for the proper permit to be used.
Outdoor sports
Bike Paths - Natividad Park offers both the experienced and novice cyclist meandering bike trails. Beautiful sights surround the path; catch a glimpse of the painted butterfly rock, which appears at the end of the unexpected tunnel.
Soccer - There is an open field available for soccer and sports enthusiasts of all types.
Tennis - The Park’s tennis courts are accessible on a first come first served basis.
Skateboarding/BMX - Come display your skills at the classic “flow” skate-park and BMX circuit. The skate and BMX areas sit on what was formerly a landfill that has been converted to accommodate riders and skaters of all ages. Visitors are encouraged to expand their knowledge of the skate and BMX cultural phenomenon sport and be entertained.
Basketball - Everyone is welcome to take advantage of the ample courts and participate in a game or two.
Jogging - Mix up your workout routine by experiencing a natural energy surge. Natividad Creek Park's environment will result in a more uplifting exercise.
Dog Walking - The Park is dog friendly and it is not unusual for dog lovers to congregate and enjoy their pets on the myriad of paths available to them. In order to keep the park clean for all to enjoy, please remember to clean up after your pet and, for safety purposes, leashes are required.
